Founded in 2005, the Digital Metrology Standards Consortium (DMSC) is a non-profit standards organisation specialising in digital metrology and manufacturing quality data interoperability. It develops and maintains the Quality Information Framework (QIF) and Dimensional Measuring Interface Standard (DMIS). QIF uses an open, XML-based structure to exchange inspection plans, measurement results, product geometry and quality information across engineering systems. Recognised as ISO 23952:2020, it supports traceability, automated inspection and the digital thread. DMSC promotes international adoption among manufacturers, metrology specialists and industrial software providers.
