Emitech, a French key player in environmental testing to ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulations, today announced the inauguration of its new test centre dedicated to the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of electronic equipment, as well as vehicle homologation and large system qualification.
The Emitech Group offers a variety and a number of unique test facilities in France, constantly evolving with the aim of supporting its customers’ innovation, in particular in the field of electric mobility. The Group already has significant test facilities available in this field. For example there is the EMCEM facility, which aims to characterize an electric vehicle motor from the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) point of view, as well as test benches for high-voltage (HV) batteries, power electronics, calculators etc. It announces new equipment and facilities for tests in the field of hydrogen (fuel cells systems, tanks + valves). The implementation of the hydrogen sector by several stakeholders and regions in France is a strong axis of the energy transition.
Emitech's EMCEM (ElectroMagnetic Characterization of Electrical Motor) test facility aims to characterize an electric vehicle motor from an electromagnetic compatibility perspective. It is the result of the know-how of the various subsidiaries that make up the Emitech Group. One of the operational branches, works on current and future mobility solutions. Its expertise in the design and validation of electric, hybrid and traditional powertrains has led to the development of highly dynamic benches that simulate the entire powertrain as well as the road profiles required for the various design and validation stages. The second operational branch of the Group corresponds to the various laboratories and engineering services whose purpose is to qualify equipment in relation to its expected life profile or to homologate the equipment. Among the areas of expertise is EMC or Electromagnetic Compatibility.
The synergies between these areas of expertise have resulted in the new EMCEM test facility, which is unique in Europe.
Lefae is the Emitech Group's laboratory specializing in environmental testing with severe constraints: fire testing and combined climatic testing. Based in France near Lyon, it has just qualified a new testing facility for verifying the conformity of equipment installed in potentially explosive zones (equivalent to ATEX requirements) in the presence of hydrocarbon fluids and vapours. Conditions of explosivity are often found in the aeronautics and military industry, but also in the automotive and marine industries.
Since 2014, Emitech has had its own international certification service called Emitech Certification. It has now been recognized as an NCB (National Certification Body).
Emitech’s laboratory in Chassieu, France, accredited by Cofrac, together with the laboratory in Montpellier constitute the group's medical pole. The centre has testing capabilities for EMC, radio, and electrical equipment safety. This triple competence allows it to support its customers in the procedures for marketing equipment in Europe with CE marking, and throughout the world with its role as CBTL in the context of the CB scheme. These procedures now include on-site incorporation tests, both in France and internationally. Among the various sectors concerned by these regulations, the medical sector is subject to particular requirements both in terms of tests and approval procedures and the Chassieu site has developed specific skills in this field, including becoming a CBTL under the CB-MED and CB-EMC/MED scheme.
