Software Radio Systems (SRS), Druid Software, and Benetel will demonstrate the strength of the Irish Open RAN ecosystem with a high-performance End-to-End (E2E) 5G solution at the forthcoming Fyuz event in Dublin, November 11-13. The solution highlights how Irish companies are redefining what is possible in the RAN by delivering an integrated solution for outdoor live broadcast.
The solution has been developed between SRS, the full-stack 5G RAN software specialist; Druid, a global leader in core network technology; Benetel, a leading Open RAN hardware specialist; and NemetonTV, the largest Irish production company based in Gaeltacht. It features;
- Broadcast Camera: Capturing and live streaming high-quality video
- Talkback: Providing reliable voice coverage to keep production teams connected
- Live Video Display: Displaying live video streams on mobile devices for real-time monitoring
The end-to-end network will include Druid’s Raemis™ 5G Core; SRS‘ Enterprise 5G RAN CU+DU; and Benetel’s RAN550 N77 Indoor O-RU. It will run on a Supermicro AS -1015A-MT platform featuring an AMD Ryzen™ 9 7950X CPU.
“The potential of Open RAN lies in bringing together best-of-breed components to create better solutions, and our work with Druid and Benetel highlights how 5G Open RAN can support complex, high stakes live broadcast environments with minimal latency,” said Paul Sutton, Founder and CEO at SRS. “This collaboration is a testament to the maturity of the 5G Open RAN ecosystem in Ireland, and we’re delighted to present a solution that blends the performance and flexibility of our respective work in such an innovative way.”
“Together, we’ve harnessed the strengths of 5G Open RAN technology to deliver a solution that not only meets the rigorous demands of live broadcast environments but also showcases Ireland’s leading role in advancing this ecosystem,” said Tadhg Kenny, President of Global Strategic Accounts and Partnerships at Druid Software.
“Collaborating with NemetonTV as the end user of the solution demonstrated what 5G technology can bring to broadcasters. We’re proud to contribute to a dynamic, adaptable network infrastructure that’s redefining connectivity standards in general,” Kenny added.
Benetel CEO, Adrian O’Connor says “As 5G continues to transform broadcasting, the flexibility of our Open RAN Radio Unit is key to enabling reliable, high-quality live broadcasts. Our solution highlights the power of disaggregated software, which allows broadcasters to overcome traditional infrastructure limitations. At Benetel, we’re proud to design, manufacture, and deliver our hardware entirely from Europe, ensuring top-tier performance and innovation from concept to dispatch. By collaborating with SRS and Druid, we’re not only advancing the future of broadcasting but also supporting the growth of Open RAN technology in Europe.”
