Keysight Enables SK hynix to Achieve Top-Tier OCP S.A.F.E. Evaluation for SSD Solution

Keysight Technologies has enabled SK hynix to earn its first Open Compute Project (OCP) Security Appraisal Framework and Enablement (S.A.F.E.) recognition for a solid-state drive (SSD) solution. This accomplishment represents a pioneering industry collaboration, underscoring Keysight’s commitment to empowering innovators and securing the technology supply chain.

As cloud adoption accelerates and artificial intelligence (AI) workloads intensify, hyperscale data centers face an unprecedented wave of cybersecurity threats. The increasing complexity of hardware and firmware supply chains, combined with the rising sensitivity of data, requires a unified, rigorous approach to evaluating product security. OCP is an industry initiative that fosters the development of solutions to meet increasing server infrastructure demands effectively. Founded by global technology leaders like Microsoft, Meta, and Google, OCP aims to improve efficient designs for scalable computing, reducing complexity and fostering innovation in data center networking equipment, servers, storage devices, and more.

As an approved OCP S.A.F.E. Security Review Provider (SRP), Keysight delivers expert-led evaluations of firmware and hardware-level security measures, including code quality and structure, cryptographic protections, firmware update mechanisms, and supply chain integrity. These rigorous reviews help vendors confidently demonstrate compliance with modern security best practices, building trust across the technology ecosystem.

For the SK hynix evaluation, Keysight applied its proprietary code security evaluation framework, combining industry standards such as the Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS) with Keysight-developed criteria, to conduct an in-depth Scope 1 assessment of firmware security and hardware interactions. SK hynix achieved a high rating, reflecting the effectiveness of Keysight’s structured methodology and the client’s robust engineering practices.
