High-Efficiency Three-Phase AC-DC Power Supplies for Industrial DIN Rail Systems

The expansion of the DRB series includes three-phase AC-DC power supplies designed to support high-density industrial installations. These units provide continuous output power of 480W or 960W, serving as critical components in the digital supply chain by ensuring stable power delivery for factory automation, process control, and communications infrastructure.

Peak Power Capability and Load Management
The 480W and 960W models are engineered to handle demanding inductive and capacitive loads through a 50% boost power rating. Specifically, the 480W models can deliver up to 720W, and the 960W models can deliver up to 1440W for a duration of seven seconds. This peak performance is supplemented by a constant current overload characteristic, which prevents system shutdowns during high-startup-current events.

To further enhance system reliability, the units feature a very low energy inrush current upon initial start-up. This mechanism minimizes the risk of nuisance tripping of input circuit breakers, a common technical challenge when multiple power supplies are integrated into a single automotive data ecosystem or industrial rack.

Technical Specifications and Environmental Resilience
Housed in rugged metal enclosures, the units prioritize space efficiency on the DIN rail. The 480W models measure 65mm in width, while the 960W models are 100mm wide. Operating at efficiencies up to 96.3%, the series reduces internal heat generation, which contributes to a typical electrolytic capacitor life of 10 years when operated at 40°C ambient temperatures.

The series supports a wide input range of 350 to 575Vac and offers adjustable output voltages:
  • 24V Models: 22.5 to 29V
  • 48V Models: 45 to 56V
  • 72V Models: 70 to 85V
These adjustment ranges allow engineers to compensate for voltage drops across long cable runs or to accommodate non-standard voltage requirements. For remote monitoring and control, the units include a DC OK relay contact and a remote on/off (inhibit) function, which reduces standby power consumption to less than 2.3W.

Standards and Compliance
The DRB series is convection cooled and rated for operation in temperatures ranging from -25 to +70°C, with power derating applied above 55°C. The units comply with rigorous international safety and EMC standards, including:
  • Safety: IEC/EN/UL/CSA 62368-1, 61010-1, and 61010-2-201.
  • Emissions: EN 55011-B and CISPR11-B for radiated and conducted emissions.
  • Immunity: IEC/EN 61000-6-2 and EN 61000-3-2 (Class A) for harmonic currents.
The power supplies also carry CE and UKCA markings, ensuring compliance with Low Voltage, EMC, and RoHS Directives for global industrial application. For installations in harsh environments, specific models are available with conformal coating to protect internal circuitry from dust and corrosive contaminants.
