Paving the Way of Industrial Reinvention

Moxa’s future-proof edge-to-cloud IIoT connectivity solutions enable the convergence of OT and IT to achieve secure and smarter manufacturing.

Paving the Way of Industrial Reinvention

With well-designed connectivity solutions for factory automation Moxa paves the way of industrial reinvention in sectors like machine building, intralogistics, robotics, and machine tools. By providing integrated IIoT solutions from edge to cloud, Moxa helps to rethink and simplify connectivity for industrial applications. The convergence of OT and IT is one of Moxa’s focus areas to enable smarter manufacturing. This encompasses a holistic cybersecurity concept, MQTT capabilities for retrofit and future infrastructure, as well as the ability to process all relevant protocols. Additionally, Moxa is prepared for all future industrial communication trends such as TSN and 5G, and collaborates with technology and factory automation market leaders to further support the industry’s reinvention.

The highlights at Moxa’s booth include:

UC-8112-ME Microsoft Azure-Ready IIoT Edge Gateway Solution

Easy Connectivity from the Edge to the Cloud
The UC series IIoT Edge Gateways are the first Azure IoT Edge certified Arm-based computers. Integrating Azure IoT Edge with Moxa’s IIoT gateways benefits customers, especially those operating on Linux platforms, in a number of ways. The benefits include secure remote connections to enable deployment in remote locations, connectivity to allow existing brownfield applications to share data with the cloud, and device management and product longevity. The latter ensures that users can deploy, scale, and maintain their IIoT applications. Moxa's loT Gateway UC-8100A-ME-T computing platform is built around a Cortex-A8 processor and designed for embedded data acquisition applications. It has built-in remote communication capabilities and is Microsoft Azure-ready to facilitate data transfer from field devices to the cloud. The computer comes with dual RS-232/422/485 serial ports and dual 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports, as well as a Mini PCIe socket to support cellular modules. Due to these flexible interfacing options, this tiny embedded computer is a reliable and secure gateway for data acquisition and processing at field sites as well as a useful communications platform for many other large-scale deployments. Wide-temperature and LTE-enabled models are available.

TXOne Networks
The joint venture between Moxa and cybersecurity firm Trend Micro introduces three new products based on Moxa’s security model:
• EtherGuard is a security appliance with virtual patch capabilities that alleviates the risks of unpatched devices. The Intrusion Prevention/ Detection Systems offers L7 behavioral attack protection.
• EtherFire is a security appliance with L7 virtual patch capabilities, too, plus it offers whitelisting, thus enabling fine-grained access control in devices, services, protocol format, and control commands. Moreover, it allows segmentation, i.e. traffic control between zones.
• MXSecurity is an industrial-grade software that enhances the visibility of critical assets, allows the central management of devices, policies, and the virtual patch, and offers event and traffic alarms.

In addition, Moxa will be showcasing its IIoT-ready modular controllers and I/Os as well as comprehensive cybersecurity and TSN solutions.
