Kontron KWS 3000-CML: New high-performance workstation in a compact and rugged midi-tower format
Industrial design and high computing power for demanding and graphics-hungry applications in industry and medical technology.
Kontron, a leading global provider of IoT/Embedded Computing Technology (ECT), is expanding its portfolio with high-performance workstations for industrial and medical applications. The extremely compact KWS 3000-CML workstation combines the advantages of an industrial PC in terms of robustness and long-term availability with those of an office PC in terms of design and user-friendliness. Applications such as Machine Learning or AI workflows with demanding performance and large data volumes can be handled effortlessly thanks to 10th Gen Intel® Core i processors with up to 10 cores as well as powerful GPUs and graphics cards, which can be freely selected as add-on cards. The flexible, modular design allows easy adaptation to customer-specific requirements.
The heart of the new KWS 3000-CML workstation, a powerful Micro-ATX motherboard, relies on Intel® 10th Gen processors and four DIMM DDR4-3200 modules with up to 128 GB of memory. The efficient thermal concept with two low-noise fans ensures smooth operation at temperatures up to 45° Celsius and thus secures permanent, high-availability use around the clock. The workstation in a compact midi-tower format (H x W x D: 380 x 190 x 380 mm) is shock- and vibration-resistant in accordance with EN 60068-2-27 and EN 60068-2-6, respectively, and is therefore ideally suited for use in harsh environments.
The KWS 3000-CML workstation can be individually configured; several front versions are available, up to four 3.5-inch drive bays can be equipped with either removable drives (hot swappable) or internal drives, and a Slim DVD can also be operated. In addition to the two USB 3.0 interfaces on the front, there are four more USB 3.2 and two USB 2.0 ports on the rear, 1x 1 GB or 2.5 GB LAN port, 1x HDMI 2.0a, 1x DP1.2, 1x VGA and 2x COM RS232/422/485 interfaces. Another three COM interfaces and two additional LAN ports can be installed at the rear.
In addition, the KWS 3000-CML workstation provides two M.2 PCIe drives for e.g. wireless or 4G/5G functionalities. Four PCIe expansion slots provide space for powerful graphics cards, additional LAN cards or RAID controllers. All drives and add-on cards are screwed into the robust housing and optionally secured with card holders.
The use of PS/2 power supplies allows flexible use in various applications in automation, medical technology or even in the energy sector – redundant power supplies, for example, ensure maximum reliability and fail-safe operation.
Long-term availability of at least 7 years and profound life-cycle management guarantee maximum investment security and ROI.
