Flex Power Modules News

New version of pioneering Flex Power Designer Software released

Flex Power Modules has introduced the latest update, Version 4.6, of its acclaimed Flex Power Designer software that enables users to meticulously configure and optimize power systems, even without any attached hardware.

New version of pioneering Flex Power Designer Software released

This significant upgrade underscores the company’s commitment to innovation and enhanced support for the evolving needs of power system designers. Uniquely, the tool continues to provide the ability to include generic products, not limited to those from Flex Power Modules, and remains free for all users.

Version 4.6 brings a suite of advanced features and improvements, further establishing Flex Power Designer as an indispensable resource for designing sophisticated power supply systems. Key updates include enhancements to phase spreading, droop simulation, a more compact system view, and support for USB-TO-GPIO2.

Enhanced Phase Spreading Capabilities
Flex Power Designer now offers full support for the company’s 40A rated BMR473 and 80A rated BMR474 DC/DC Point of Load regulators when applying Phase Spreading. The update enables designers to optimize power distribution and minimize noise in their systems, ensuring superior performance and overall system reliability.

Advanced Droop Simulation
With the introduction of droop settings in the frequency analysis for the 1600W rated BMR351 intermediate bus converter, users can now simulate and adjust droop responses more accurately. This feature is crucial for maintaining stability and performance under varying load conditions, providing designers with the capability to fine-tune their power systems.

Compact System View
Understanding the importance of a streamlined design process, Version 4.6 introduces a compact system view. This upgrade offers a clearer overview of the system design, enabling easier navigation and adjustments to help speed up the development cycle.

Integration with TI’s latest PMBus Adapter
Recognizing the need for seamless compatibility, the update includes support for Texas Instruments’ latest PMBus adapter, USB-TO-GPIO2. This integration facilitates easier communication and configuration of power modules, further simplifying the design process for engineers.

Initially launched in 2012 to complement the company’s digital DC/DC converters, Flex Power Designer was the first power designer software of its kind. A free copy of the software tool can be downloaded here.

Flex Power Modules will showcase Version 4.6 of the Flex Power Designer at embedded world 2024, taking place in Nuremberg, Germany, from April 9-11. Additionally, at booth 208A in Hall 4, the company will present its latest DC/DC converters for industrial and transportation applications, alongside products for the telecom and 5G sectors, RFPA applications, and solutions involving intermediate bus converters and voltage regulator modules tailored for AI and cloud computing.
