Kontron, a leading global provider of IoT/Embedded Computer Technology (ECT), introduces the KSwitch M20, a modular, non-blocking and fully-managed L2/L3 1/2.5/5/10 Gigabit Ethernet switch module with Precision Time Protocol that offers a comprehensive and versatile feature set for integrating Ethernet switching functions into customized baseboard designs. The KSwitch M20 is the ideal solution for all types of high performance Ethernet switching, whether for military, industrial or avionics applications. The IEEE1588v2 functions enable precise timing synchronization and ‘packet time stamping’ for time-critical applications. The KSwitch M20 module also supports intelligent Power-over-Ethernet devices with integrated firmware.
The Ethernet switch module is designed for future-oriented applications that require excellent bandwidth and communication security. The ten 10Gbps SerDes interfaces allow flexible implementation of different physical interfaces and speeds, which contributes significantly to investment security. The standard port configuration enables:
- 6x QSGMII (24x 10/100/1000BASE-T) and
- 4x 10G-USXGMII (4x 1/2.5/5G/10GBASE-T) with external PHYs.
Up to 28 x 1Gb/s ports or 10x10GBASE-T can be supported on project request. The robust design with components for the extended temperature range provides the basis for robust Ethernet switching devices.
A 12 V power supply provides the option for a broad portfolio of power supplies. Built-in test functions enable effective switch maintenance. The KSwitch M20 module can be monitored via SNMP over the serial line or Ethernet. Web-based management and a comprehensive command line interface enable layer 2/3 management including full IPv6 support. Features such as IP Forwarding & Multicast, Routing & Switching, Quality of Service, VLANs etc. enable complex network routing.
