Reliably attaching surface mount hermetic power packages to PCBs is a common challenge faced by space system designers. Too often, different thermal coefficients lead to an expansion mismatch of different materials.
Trade shows are an essential part of communication with customers – this is where new technologies and innovative products are launched. As a result of the coronavirus, numerous trade fairs had to be cancelled or postponed since spring 2020. In the short term, Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) is therefore strengthening its own activities in the digitalization of sales and marketing activities. The semiconductor manufacturer is thus presenting two important trade show highlights on the internet in July: power semiconductors and sensors.
In view of the long-term growing market demand for power semiconductors for electric cars, Danfoss A/S and Infineon Technologies AG have signed a multi-year volume agreement. Infineon will supply chipsets of IGBTs and diodes to the Danfoss Silicon Power business unit. The chips are mainly used in power modules for inverters that control the motors in electric vehicles.
With the acquisition of Cypress Semiconductor Corporation, Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) enhances its expertise in memory solutions. Infineon today announced the addition of Semper Secure to its award-winning Semper NOR Flash memory platform. Based on Semper NOR Flash’s field-proven and robust smart memory architecture, Semper Secure NOR Flash is the first memory solution to combine security and functional safety in a single NOR flash device to deliver the security, safety, and reliability required for the most advanced connected automotive, industrial, and communications systems.
Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) is taking a further step towards CO 2 neutrality by focusing on electric mobility for logistics solutions. Just in time for the World Environment Day (5 June), an electric truck will be commissioned at the Regensburg site after two weeks of testing. The vehicle of the logistics partner Kühne+Nagel will drive the distance between the factory premises and an external warehouse in the east of the city four times per working day. Thus, the electric truck will cover around 100 km a day. And thanks to the electric drive, it will save some 18 tons of CO 2 every year.
