Expanding Edge-AI Capabilities Through Standardized Compute Modules
Tria Technologies, an Avnet company specializing in embedded compute solutions, has introduced two new modules—the TRIA SM2S-IQ615 and TRIA OSM-LF-IQ615—marking the commercial availability of computer-on-modules built on the Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ-615 processor. With this launch, developers can integrate high-performance, low-power edge AI computing into a wide range of systems using established SMARC and OSM standards.
The modules are designed to support advanced machine learning, vision processing, multimedia workloads and real-time industrial applications while maintaining energy efficiency and long-term availability.
AI-Ready Architecture for Demanding Edge Applications
Both modules incorporate the Qualcomm Kryo Gen 4 octa-core CPU, Adreno 612 GPU and Hexagon V66 DSP. This combination delivers a balanced architecture for accelerating machine learning inference, enabling responsive human-machine interfaces, and supporting sophisticated embedded vision systems.
The hardware is optimized for Linux-based development, shipping with a Yocto Linux BSP and optional Ubuntu support to streamline software prototyping and integration. Developers can immediately begin application testing, model tuning and performance benchmarking for Dragonwing IQ-615-based systems.
Flexible Design Through SMARC and OSM Standards
The SM2S-IQ615 complies with SMARC 2.2, making it compatible with a broad ecosystem of SMARC baseboards used in industrial gateways, automation controls and rugged IoT devices. The OSM-LF-IQ615, aligned with the OSM 1.2 specification, offers a smaller footprint for space-constrained use cases and cost-sensitive deployments.
Both variants feature fast LPDDR4 memory and up to 256 GB of eMMC flash, and are equipped with interfaces essential for embedded AI and vision solutions, including dual Gigabit Ethernet, PCIe Gen 2, USB 2.0/3.1, DP 1.4, MIPI-DSI, LVDS and up to three MIPI CSI-2 camera inputs. This versatility enables seamless integration into machine vision systems, industrial HMIs, robotics platforms and advanced multimedia devices.
Security and Reliability for Industrial Deployment
To support secure and scalable edge computing, the modules integrate hardware-level protections such as secure boot, TrustZone, secure debug and Qualcomm Trusted Execution Environment. The availability of dedicated development kits and comprehensive board support packages reduces time-to-market for manufacturers building long-lifecycle industrial or IoT equipment.
As the leading supplier of SMARC and OSM compute modules, Tria Technologies continues to expand its portfolio to meet industry demand for standardized, scalable embedded computing. The introduction of the IQ-615-based modules enables customers to build the next generation of intelligent edge systems while benefiting from high energy efficiency, robust processing capability and a broad selection of interfaces.
