ICsense, a TDK Group company and Europe’s leading fab-independent IC design organization, has expanded its in-house production capabilities with the opening of a new Electrical Wafer Sort (EWS) cleanroom. The ISO-7 certified facility forms part of a broader strategic investment program aimed at supporting rising demand for high-volume, high-reliability application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs).
Strengthening turnkey ASIC supply
The new EWS cleanroom significantly enhances ICsense’s ability to deliver complete turnkey ASIC solutions, covering EWS and final test (FT) in-house while maintaining full fab independence. This approach allows customers to benefit from flexibility in foundry selection, access to multiple process technologies, and scalable volume production without being locked into a single manufacturing ecosystem.
With continued investment in automated test equipment (ATE) and expanded test capacity, ICsense can now support production volumes exceeding 500 million ASIC units per year. This positions the company among a small group of European suppliers capable of offering the entire ASIC development and supply chain largely in-house, from architecture definition and design through testing and volume production.
Fab independence for flexibility and resilience
Active in custom ASIC supply since 2004 through a global partner network, ICsense combines in-house capabilities with qualified OSAT partners to ensure both scalability and resilience. Its fab-independent model helps customers reduce geopolitical risk, diversify supply chains, and adopt best-in-class manufacturing technologies tailored to specific application needs.
The expanded test infrastructure also supports ICsense’s compliance with stringent industry standards, including ISO 13485 for medical technology and ISO 26262 for automotive applications, addressing growing demand from automotive, MedTech, industrial, and consumer markets.
Customer-centric production strategy
“Over the last few years, we have invested heavily in providing a complete turnkey ASIC testing solution,” says Bram De Muer, CEO of ICsense. “These in-house capabilities build on the supply models we have successfully delivered through partners for more than a decade and respond directly to increased demand for high-quality, reliable custom ICs across multiple industries.”
By combining in-house testing, expanded EWS capacity, and long-standing partner relationships, ICsense aims to act as a single, end-to-end partner for analog, mixed-signal, and digital ASIC development and supply.
