Compact fanless edge computer with modular PCIe expansion

NEXCOM has introduced the NDiS B340, a compact fanless edge computing platform designed to combine a low-power base system with modular PCIe expansion, enabling scalable performance and connectivity for long-term industrial and commercial deployments.

System architecture and positioning
The NDiS B340 is positioned as a base edge platform that can be extended through specialized PCIe cards, allowing system integrators and end users to adapt system capabilities to evolving field requirements. The modular design supports incremental upgrades without replacing the base hardware, addressing lifecycle and scalability requirements in distributed edge environments.

Processor platform options and performance scaling
The system supports multiple low-power Intel platforms, including Amston Lake X series, Intel N97 (Alder Lake-N), and Intel Processor N150 (Twin Lake). This processor portfolio enables performance scaling within a common hardware architecture, reducing redesign effort when computational requirements change.

Mechanical design and environmental suitability
The NDiS B340 is housed in a compact, fanless metal enclosure designed for continuous 24/7 operation in space-constrained and harsh environments. The fanless design targets applications where reliability, low maintenance, and resistance to dust and vibration are required, such as smart retail, digital signage, industrial control, transportation, and edge gateway deployments.

Base system I/O and graphics capabilities
In its base configuration, the NDiS B340 supports dual HDMI 2.0 outputs capable of driving 4K displays at 60 Hz, using integrated Intel graphics. Dual 2.5 GbE LAN ports provide high-throughput network connectivity. Additional interfaces include multiple USB ports and industrial I/O such as serial interfaces and programmable GPIO, enabling integration with legacy devices, sensors, and control systems.

PCIe expansion and future-proofing
The platform supports an optional DockInfinity-E4X1 PCIe expansion module that adds a half-length PCIe x4 slot. This slot can be used for Power-over-Ethernet modules, capture cards, or custom PCIe-based peripherals. The system supports 12–24 V DC input, wall mounting, TPM 2.0 security, and watchdog functionality to improve system reliability in unattended deployments.

Exhibition and availability context
The NEXCOM NDiS B340 series and the DockInfinity-E4X1 expansion module will be presented at Embedded World in Nuremberg in 2026, where NEXCOM will exhibit in Hall 3, Booth 3-341.
