Acceleration Sensors from TDK is a game changer
TDK’s motion and inertial sensor family includes acceleration sensors, gyro- sensors, and inertial measurement units (IMU), which combine the two.
An acceleration sensor is a sensor that measures the acceleration of an object. Acceleration includes acceleration caused by the movement of objects and acceleration caused by gravity. Acceleration is measured in g (gees), the unit of the earth’s gravity (1g=9.8m/s²). In addition, there are 1-axis, 2-axis, and 3-axis sensors depending on the number of detection axes on the XYZ axes. Acceleration sensors can measure device orientation by calculating device tilt using gravity.
Acceleration sensors are used to detect changes in screen orientation of smartphones and game devices as well as hand movement. They are also used with gyro -sensors for attitude and direction control in drones.
TDK’s motion and inertial sensor family includes acceleration sensors, gyro- sensors, and inertial measurement units (IMU), which combine the two. The TDK MEMS Sensor Platform, which incorporates advanced MEMS technology*, is expected to create high added value compound sensors and sensor solutions for the IoT and IoE era.
* MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) technology: Micromachining technology that employs the three-dimensional precision processing technologies used in the manufacture of semiconductor integrated circuits to simultaneously create multiple sensors, circuits, movable parts, and other components on a silicon wafer.
