A pioneering spirit and the willingness to change are part of the Conrad Electronic DNA: having been in business for almost 100 years also means that the family-run company based in Hirschau, Germany, had to reinvent itself more than once – always in response to a change in customer needs. After all, meeting peoples’ expectations requires finding out what they want in the first place. “We strive to make sourcing as simple, as fast and as comprehensible as possible for our customers. In order to do so, we listen closely to their needs, to identify areas for improvement early, and come up with solutions,” explains Ralf Bühler, CEO of Conrad Electronic. “The Conrad Sourcing Platform helps us take the next step when it comes to streamlining our business model - clearly focussing on B2B, aiming to become Europe’s leading sourcing platform for technical business supplies.”

Start-up Mentality Ensures Quick Solutions
Determined to pursue this goal, and to both further improve and personalise customer journeys across different audiences, Conrad decided to team up with a strong partner: “It’s one of life’s crazy coincidences that bewegewas Holding GmbH, a digitalisation specialist with a 20-years track record in open innovation and operating environment software development, who is now helping us expand our sourcing platform, happens to be based in Amberg. Which is basically just down the road,” says Bühler.
Whether it’s developing customer-specific services, rolling out new platform features or upgrading existing digital infrastructure, the team at bewegewas have already proven their technical skills and competencies during a string of collaborative projects. Which prompted Christian Hubmann, CEO of bewegewas Holding GmbH, to become part of the Conrad family. “The way I see it, our expertise fits well with Conrad’s ambitious plans for the future. We are committed to speed up the development of the sourcing platform, putting all our resources in.”
Excellent Match with regard to Mindset and Modus Operandi
Regardless of the difference in size, Conrad CEO Ralf Bühler believes that both companies are an excellent match with regard to both mindset and the way they operate: “Just because we are getting really close to our100th year in business, this doesn’t mean we’ve lost any of our pioneering spirit when it comes to all things digital. We even call ourselves a 98-year-old start-up. I am pretty confident that Conrad and bewegewas will do exceedingly well together in terms of what customers expect from us.”
