Infineon's new ISOFACE portfolio of digital isolators offers robust high-voltage isolation, best-in-class efficiency and noise immunity
Digital isolators have become the preferred choice in many modern designs because of the many benefits they offer.
The ISOFACE™ dual-channel digital isolator family from Infineon provides two data channels in a narrow-body DSO-8 package, supporting data rates of up to 40 Mbps and ensuring signal integrity over a wide operating temperature range and across the production spread. Infineon’s robust coreless transformer technology guarantees high immunity to system noise with a common-mode transient immunity of more than 100 kV/μs. The digital isolator family withstands up to 3000 VRMS isolation voltage, resulting in reliable system operation in noisy environments with predictable data communication. These include an optimized system bill of materials (BOM) and reduced printed circuit board (PCB) area, as well as accurate timing characteristics with lower power consumption. They also offer improved common-mode transient immunity (CMTI), certified insulation life, integrated features and output enable options. Infineon Technologies AG introduces its first generation of ISOFACE™ dual-channel digital isolators to meet the growing demand for robust high-voltage isolation. The new devices are pin-to-pin compatible with other suppliers’ portfolios.
The new ISOFACE dual-channel digital isolators are the latest addition to Infineon’s portfolio of isolation products for a wide range of applications. These include server, telecom and industrial SMPS, industrial automation systems, motor control and drives, energy storage systems, and solar inverters. Based on Infineon’s patented coreless transformer (CT) isolation technology, the new state-of-the-art ICs leverage more than 20 years of expertise to deliver system cost savings, streamlined design processes and accelerated time to market. The comprehensive product range offers multiple channel configurations, fail-safe default output states, variable or fixed input thresholds, and output enable configurations to meet diverse application requirements.

The devices’ structure enables higher system efficiency in simplified, high-power-density designs with low power consumption and accurate timing performance. Both high and low default output state options are available. In addition, features such as glitch filtering, communication modulation, watchdog, and undervoltage lockout (UVLO) are integrated to ensure robust and fail-safe data transmission even in a critical industrial environments with high voltages and noise. They also provide isolation according to the most stringent standards, such as UL-1577 and IEC 60747-17 (VDE 0884-17) at the component level, and system certifications, such as IEC 62368-1.
Availability
