Bourns Unveils High Energy 2-Electrode GDT Family
The Bourns® Model GDT212E, GDT216E, GDT220E and GDT225E Series are designed to provide protection for AC powerlines and other demanding applications that are subject to high current surges.
The high energy GDTs meet IEC lightning protection zone classification, UL1449 Type 5, and IEC 61643-311 standards, making them well suited to be deployed and installed into an SPD application.
Bourns' new GDT family features a very high current rating and offers a high surge capability at 60 kA maximum rated on an 8/20 μs waveform in a small footprint, low profile package. These features provide the surge protection performance necessary to meet AC power line application requirements while delivering a volume and space-saving solution for these high density, space-constrained designs.
Offering design versatility, the four new model series are available in a broad range of DC breakdown voltage options (150 V to 1000 V) making them suitable for virtually any voltage configuration in low voltage networks. In addition, designers can select from several terminal configuration and lead shape options enabling them to match a variety of configuration specifications.
These high energy GDTs from Bourns are developed to help safeguard multiple market applications that have become increasingly interconnected and sensitive to potentially damaging power surges. Applications such as those that support commercial and residential Internet of Things (IoT) and industrial and renewable energy equipment are examples of critical designs that can benefit from our new surge protection designs.
Bourns® Model GDT212E, GDT216E, GDT220E and GDT225E Series 2-electrode high energy GDTs are available now and are RoHS compliant* and UL recognized.
