Molex offers an extensive range of Type-C I/O connectors, whose housing material is made of high-temperature plastic and which rely on a 3-stage insert molding process. This ensures a high degree of pluggability. The special design of the plug-in tongue protects against damage caused by improper use, transportation or assembly processes. The connectors are available with 16 or 24 pins. They are suitable for voltages of 48 V and currents of 3.0 / 5.0 / 6.0 A, are TID-certified, and suitable for use at an operating temperature of -30 °C or -40 °C to +85 °C. The waterproof connector sockets have an IP classification of X5, X7 or X8, depending on the model. They have a seal ring made of liquid silicone rubber, which enables easy installation of the connector, offers excellent temperature and weather resistance and is firmly attached to the connector.
The USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-C connectors offer a particularly wide range of mounting options: whether a flat profile, upright slim fit or high center height, they enable high flexibility even in applications with limited space. If the PCB has different thicknesses, Molex supplies sockets with longer lead (217175 series) to ensure a stable connection to the PCB.
For the USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C models, plugs and sockets are available with both short and long housings. They enable a particularly stable and robust connection both to the PCB and between the plug and socket. Flat profiles and special stand-off designs provide additional mounting flexibility.
