Microchip Introduces 600V Gate Driver Family for High-Voltage Power Management Applications

Microchip has expanded its power management portfolio with a new family of gate drivers designed for applications requiring operation up to 600 V. The range includes 12 devices available in half-bridge, high-side/low-side, and three-phase configurations, addressing common architectures in motor control and power conversion systems.

The gate drivers are engineered to support fast switching behavior with selectable drive currents from 600 mA to 4.5 A, enabling efficient control of MOSFET-based power stages. Native support for 3.3 V logic simplifies direct interfacing with modern microcontrollers, reducing the need for external level-shifting components in mixed-signal designs.

To ensure reliable operation in electrically noisy environments, the devices integrate Schmitt-triggered inputs, enhanced noise immunity, and internal deadtime control to prevent shoot-through conditions in power switches. These features are particularly relevant in industrial motor drives, switched-mode power supplies, and inverter-based systems where high dv/dt and EMI are common challenges.

The 600 V gate driver family is intended for use alongside Microchip’s broader ecosystem of microcontrollers, MOSFETs, and power conversion components, supporting system-level integration for electrified industrial equipment, renewable energy interfaces, and compact motor-driven consumer products. Simulation models are available to support early-stage design validation and reduce prototyping risk.
