Voltcraft Launches Versatile New DOV Oscilloscope Series

Voltcraft’s latest oscilloscope series comprises a total of eight models. All of them are supplied by the Conrad Sourcing Platform. Their compact lightweight design together with either two or four analogue channels, and a bandwidth of 70 to 250 MHz make these products the perfect choice for field work and classroom alike. A built-in HMDI port allows mirroring display content to large screens. Voltcraft also offer models featuring a function generator and a logic analyser which boosts their range of uses even more.

Touchscreen operation
No more fiddling with selectors and pressing buttons. All models of Voltcraft’s DOV series come with an easy-to-use touchscreen that supports gesture control, just like a smartphone. “That doesn’t mean you have to use it though,” explains Harald Lehner, product manager at Voltcraft. “Goes without saying that DOV models continue to feature selectors and buttons, to provide an additional, or alternative, mode of operation.”

Wide range of models available
While the eight new DOV models might not look too much different from each other, each has its very own set of specifications, to address different user needs. Two of the models have bandwidths of 70 and 100 MHz, respectively, with each being available as a 2-channel and 4-channel version. An AWG function generator is what tells the 125Mhz and 250 MHz models apart: all of them provide four analogue channels but only one of the 125 MHz versions and Voltcraft’s DOV 2504F LA flagship product feature the function generator. However, all four models come with a 16-channel logic analyser that is compatible with the Voltcraft DOV-PP116 16-chan logic analyser probe which needs to be ordered separately.

Extensive set of features
“We designed these products with the specific requirements of their intended users in mind,” says Harald Lehner. Which is why the new DOV series features a whole range of technical strongpoints that are part of the package, and include a 12-bit A-D converter as well as USB, LAN and HDMI ports. All Voltcraft’s digital DOV oscilloscopes operate at a sampling rate of 1.25 Gsa per second. Their real-time wave form capture rate is 50,000 wfms per second. This goes up to 700,000 wfms per second when using segmented memory which allows visualising irregular interference signals. Time resolution ranges from 1 ns/div to 1000 s/div. Moreover, the products offer an exhaustive set of trigger functions and data bus decoders (RS232/UART, I2C, SPI, LIN, CAN), boosting their overall versatility. Also, 4-channel versions come with 4 probes.

Extra functions to make the job easier
As an expansion to their analysis package, Voltcraft oscilloscopes utilise Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT) to convert signals into their individual spectral components. A wide range of mathematical and cursor-related functions enables fast data evaluation across all channels. In terms of QA, a pass/fail function allows comparing a signal to pre-set waveforms. If signal and pre-set don’t match, this triggers a pulse being outputted via the BNC connector on the back panel.

Screen mirroring
Last but not least, the products feature an HDMI port on the back panel that enables mirroring the oscilloscope’s display content on any large screen, TV or monitor. This comes in particularly handy in team meetings, the classroom and vocational training.
