Multi-band uplink configuration optimizes digital infrastructure throughput performance

A technical collaboration has successfully verified a three-transmit antenna, five-layer uplink configuration designed to improve data throughput. The architecture targets high-capacity digital infrastructure, including fixed wireless access networks and data-intensive applications.

Operational Challenges and Collaborative Roles
Industrial demand for ultra-high-resolution cloud applications requires increased uplink performance and spectral efficiency. Managing multiple frequency bands simultaneously while maintaining signal reliability presents significant technical integration challenges. To address this complexity, MediaTek provided its 5G modem platform, while Samsung Electronics deployed its software-based virtualized radio access network, Massive-MIMO radios, and macro radios. This combination allowed for optimized resource allocation and simultaneous multi-user management.

Technical Architecture and System Mechanics
The technical demonstration integrated three transmit antennas across a multi-band configuration. The system utilized the n66 band at a 1.7 GHz frequency with a 30 MHz bandwidth as the primary cell, combined with dual n77 carriers at 3.7 GHz utilizing a total of 200 MHz bandwidth. Operating across five uplink layers, the joint infrastructure achieved a total uplink throughput of 670 Mbps.

The software-based virtualized radio access network provided the scalability required to manage the multiple data streams. The integrated Massive-MIMO radios enhanced spectral efficiency and minimized signal interference, ensuring stable connectivity under high load conditions.

Infrastructure Integration and Expected Impact
The implementation demonstrates how advanced multi-antenna configurations integrate into software-defined network architectures. By improving uplink peak speeds, the solution enhances the viability of fixed wireless access networks. The resulting operational benefits include enhanced process stability, reduced latency, and greater transmission efficiency for data-intensive professional environments.
