Connected Roads: LACROIX City Announces New Roadside Unit Products Featuring C-V2X Chipset Solution From Qualcomm

LACROIX City, a leader in smart mobility in France, today unveiled plans to evolve its current portfolio of ITS solutions to now include C-V2X direct communication technologies in its product line-up.

Connected Roads: LACROIX City Announces New Roadside Unit Products Featuring C-V2X Chipset Solution From Qualcomm

LACROIX City’s new roadside units (RSU’s) will feature the Qualcomm® 9150 C-V2X chipset solution from Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated. The Qualcomm Technologies solution is based upon the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 14 spécifications for direct communications (PC5) between vehicles, infrastructure and pedestrians over the globally harmonized 5.9GHz ITS spectrum.

With a strong evolutionary path towards 5G New Radio (5G NR), C-V2X is designed to support improved automotive safety, automated driving and traffic efficiency, and is positioned to play an integral role in developing the smart roads of tomorrow.

Through its brand LACROIX Neavia, specialist in multi-sensor detection and data acquisition devices, LACROIX City’s new C-V2X-enabled RSU products will be available in the first quarter of 2019. By including the Qualcomm 9150 C-V2X chipset solution in its products, LACROIX City will now bring essential scalable functionality to its customers, while strengthening its global position in the mobility industry.

An enriched Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) product offering

LACROIX City has extensive experience in V2X solutions, specifically working with ITS-G5 technology, with both on-board units (OBUs) and roadside units (RSUs), which have previously been deployed.

Building the smart roads of the future

As part of its product expansion to include C-V2X, LACROIX City will offer its customers intelligent mobility products for field trials. As the number of field trials and deployments for autonomous and connected vehicles continues to increase, LACROIX City believes the need for connected and intelligent infrastructure equipped with adequate sensors will become more essential to help guarantee the safety required for vehicles.

“Addressing smart mobility globally is an important initiative for LACROIX City. We are excited to develop products to help support this initiative featuring the Qualcomm 9150 C-V2X chipset solution,” said Guillaume Grolleau, LACROIX Neavia general manager. “Given Qualcomm Technologies’ expertise and experience in developing vehicle communication technologies like C-V2X, as well as groundbreaking automotive solutions in wireless, positioning and compute, we are confident we would be able to develop the best products to serve the needs of LACROIX City and its customers.”
