Xilinx: AMD Zynq UltraScale+ Achieves New Milestone
Functional safety is an essential requirement for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), automated driving (AD), including Surround View/APA systems, and sensor hubs that include forward camera, LiDAR and radar. Many customer products have varying safety requirements that must be met before being deployed.
First Adaptive SoC Fully Certified for Automotive Functional Safety Applications
We’re excited to announce that we’ve completed the functional safety certification of Zynq® UltraScale+™ Full-Power Domain (FPD) and Programmable Logic (PL) power domain. With this, our Zynq UltraScale+ devices become the industry’s first adaptive SoCs to be fully certified for use in functional safety applications based on ISO 26262, IEC 61508 and ISO 13849 functional safety standards. The certification of automotive-qualified Zynq UltraScale+ SoCs provides engineers with application-ready devices that meet required functional safety standards.
AMD continues its commitment to automotive functional safety through independent assessments of Zynq UltraScale+ devices. With the previous low-power domain (LPD) ASIL C / SIL3 HFT=1 certification, this device is certified up to ASIL B/SIL2 for the full-power domain (FPD) and up to ASIL B/SC2 certification for programmable logic power domain.
Developers can now design automotive functional safety applications powered by our Zynq UltraScale+ adaptive SoCs to deliver higher performance, support multiple channels of redundancy, and use up to three independent power domains with ASIL certification. In addition, developers can continue to take advantage of the embedded FPGA fabric to accelerate performance beyond conventional software-based systems and achieve fast response times with low latency required for safety-critical systems.
Pramod Bhardwaj, director of Functional Safety Center of Excellence for Core Vertical Markets at AMD said, “Recent extensions to Zynq UltraScale+ Functional Safety certification demonstrate the robust development process and continued investment AMD is making in functional safety solutions to serve the automotive and industrial market segments."
Combined with IEC 61508 and ISO 13849 (safety standard for industrial machinery), AMD provides a complete ecosystem for developers, including supporting certified development tools and documentation, assessment reports, and proven IP to minimize risks for customers and their safety applications.
Developers can find tools and resources to support highly integrated safety-critical systems design by purchasing access to AMD’s online Functional Safety Lounges. Privileges include access to the safety manual for Zynq UltraScale+, device and architecture updates, tool-flows, test libraries and documentation including future reports and assessments. These tools and resources are available to developers through AMD authorized distributors or through AMD sales representatives.
