TOSHIBA LAUNCHES MOTOR DRIVER ICS WITH SMALL PACKAGE AND REDUCED EXTERNAL PARTS

The new motor driver ICs for consumer and industrial equipment need fewer external parts and are housed in a small, highly versatile, space-saving package.

TOSHIBA LAUNCHES MOTOR DRIVER ICS WITH SMALL PACKAGE AND REDUCED EXTERNAL PARTS

The launch expands the Toshiba lineup with four products: “TB67S581FNG,” “TB67S580FNG,” “TB67H481FNG” and “TB67H480FNG".

Two of the new products, TB67S581FNG and TB67S580FNG, are two-phase bipolar stepping motor driver ICs. TB67S581FNG has a motor output voltage rating of 50V and a motor output current rating of 2.5A while TB67S580FNG has ratings of 50V and 1.6A, respectively.

The other two products, TB67H481FNG and TB67H480FNG, are constant current dual H-bridge driver ICs, with a motor output voltage rating of 50V and a motor output current rating of 2.5A. The input interface of TB67H481FNG is IN input, while TB67H480FNG uses PHASE input.

The products use the small, highly versatile HTSSOP28 package, which has a mounting area approximately 39% smaller than the HTSSOP48 package used for Toshiba’s current product, TB67S109AFNG. Unlike the QFN type package, which has terminals arrayed in four directions, the HTSSOP package has terminals arrayed in two directions, for easier wiring on circuit boards. All of the ICs incorporate capacitors for charge pump circuits, reducing external parts and saving space on circuit boards.

The motor driver ICs support motor power supply voltages from 8.2V to 44V, and have a power consumption of up to 20μA in sleep mode, making them widely usable for 12V/24V power supply applications.

Toshiba will continue to develop products for a wide range of applications and to provide total solutions that contribute to design simplification, board area reduction, and total cost reduction.
