Conrad Weidmüller Release Their New Raspberry Pi 4 Case

Aimed at makers, industrial testing facilities and science labs: the modular u-maker case protects sophisticated electronic circuitry.

Conrad Weidmüller Release Their New Raspberry Pi 4 Case

Designed for all types of switchboard cabinets and DIN rail mounts: Weidmüller’s modular u- maker Box.

  • A flexible and extendable housing for electronics
  • Easy handling, no tools required
  • Extensive set of accessories and 3d printing templates

. Weidmüller have designed their u-maker box with the needs of makers, testing labs, R&D departments and the industries in mind. The product is now available on Conrad’s sourcing platform. The idea behind the design: programmers who use Raspberry Pi 4 to control applications and people who develop their own smart home setups want to see the involved electronics well protected. The u-maker box does just that in an easily workable, customisable and extendable way. It also fits into every type of switchboard cabinet and complies with all DIN rail standards. In short, Weidmüller’s versatile new casing offers everything you need to protect and mount electronic circuitry without having to use tools.

Removable Panels Enable Routing of Cables and Connectors
Projects centred around a Raspberry Pi require plenty of dedication and creative input. This is why people want to see the outcome well protected while still being easily accessible. Weidmüller’s new Basis Kit offers enough space for a Raspberry Pi and one additional 5.08 base board, to be fitted with a set of screws using the provided slots. The screws are part of the shipment. Side panels are detachable to house the cables and connectors of the circuitry to be placed in the casing. The u- maker housing comes with flexible expansion options that make space for other electronic modules that need to go into the box. For instance, there is room for a fan if the air vents of the box do not ensure sufficient cooling.

Magnetic holder for easy opening and expansion
Handling the u-maker box is as easy as it gets. The black casing comes with magnets placed in each the corners of the product that allow toolless opening, closing and box expansion. Moreover, the cases are stackable. And if a set-up requires the circuity boards to be fixed inside the box to stabilise the arrangement, there are pre-drilled holes for screws and nuts in each corner of the case.

3D-printed Accessoires
You can use any of nowadays 3D printers to manufacture user-designed accessories that are compatible with the product and already existing components: Weidmüller provide a sizable online library of 3D templates comprising different types of side panels, cable clips, fan mounts and bases you can download and print.

Switchboard Cabinets, DIN Rails and External Mounts
The u-maker box comes with a wide variety of safe attachment options. Two removable clips serve as adapters for a wide range of action camera mounts that includes magnetic, clamp and adhesive types. The basic kit also ships with a mount designed for switchboards and DIN rails. The whole package is now available on the Conrad Sourcing Platform.

Dr Christian von Toll, head of Weidmüller Germany and manager of the DACH region, is very pleased with Conrad expanding their product lines in a dynamic way as it helps businesses simplify their sourcing procedures. “One aspect that makes collaborating with Conrad so amazing is the fact that they add new products to their range right away. We also appreciate the positive feedback from customers we and Conrad share across the industries with regard to the ease of integrating Conrad’s electronic product catalogues into in-house procurement systems.”
