As vehicle architectures centralize complex logic into High-Performance Computing (HPC) clusters, the industry requires simplified "edge" controllers for specific tasks like motor control and power conversion. The dsPIC33A DSC provides the necessary real-time performance and integrated peripherals, while Vector’s MICROSAR IO serves as a lightweight software base layer. Together, they eliminate the traditional "ramp-up" phase where developers struggle to align low-level drivers with hardware registers.

The partnership delivers four primary advantages for automotive OEMs and Tier 1s:
  • Reduced Integration Risk: Hardware and software are pre-tested and aligned, allowing application development to start immediately.
  • Cost Optimization: The lean software footprint allows for the use of more efficient, lower-cost hardware in high-volume production.
  • Standardized Abstraction: Vector has defined a standardized hardware abstraction interface, making it easier to port MICROSAR IO to future Microchip platforms.
  • Accelerated Implementation: A free Evaluation Bundle, including sample applications, will soon be available via the Vector Download Center.
The joint solution will make its public debut at embedded world 2026 in Nuremberg. Visitors to the Microchip booth can view live demos of MICROSAR IO use cases, while Vector will provide technical deep dives into the software’s architecture. By shifting the heavy lifting of hardware abstraction to this pre-integrated platform, Vector and Microchip are enabling engineers to focus purely on the unique functional logic of their software-defined components.
